The Greatest Songs Of The 60's & 70's

It’s with a great deal of sadness for me to say that, due to some unforeseen circumstances, 101-7 The Vault will no longer be on the air. As of Monday (1/6/25) we will be switching to a sports talk format. We will continue to carry Lamar High athletics, the Chiefs, Razorbacks, and MSSU. 

It’s been a profound joy to bring music and artists to the airwaves that have never been heard on the air before in this area. I truly believe that the 60’s and 70’s produced the best music ever made regardless of the “genre”. We proved that yes, you can play Buddy Holly, Elvis, the Beatles, and the Carpenters on the same station with Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Boston. And to try and put a spotlight on some of the local artists from the area. 

Why do all these different songs and artists play so well with each other? It was simply great music. That’s it. It was all GREAT music. We refused to be pigeonholed to playing only the same 500 songs that the so called expert “consultants“ say we can play and that everybody is sick to death of hearing over and over. There us SO much great music from that era and we wanted to bring it ALL to you. 

It’s been a great run and we appreciate our loyal listeners and all the great comments and vibes that you sent down through the years. I hope we were able to take you back to your youth and to provoke good memories that a song or artist that you hadn’t heard in years can provide.
As for me? Me and my old lady will pile into the VW microbus and head down to a commune we heard about down on Table Rock. Have a garden, make our own wine, and partake in some fine homegrown.
I wish you all nothing but peace and love. We sure could use a lot more of that in the world
